Review: The Ritz Carlton, Montreal

MONTREAL - If you wish to soak in the history of Montreal, you couldn't find a better place to do it in than the Ritz Carlton. Established in 1912, it is the only surviving hotel in the city from the days of the early twentieth century. The old world charm at the "La Grande Dame", as it is popularly known, is still preserved beautifully, and is sure to sweep you back in time to a luxurious atmosphere you may have just read or heard about, but hardly ever experienced firsthand.

The hotel has a wide variety of rooms and suites available to cater to every kind of need. The common factors, though, no matter where you stay in the hotel, are the luxurious comfort you are assured of and the service, which is amongst the most polite and courteous you can hope to find anywhere in the world.

Amongst the comforts, you have the choice of opting for high speed internet in your room. This is one of the features that make this hotel a preferred choice for business executives. A state-of-the-art business center and top-notch conference services are some of the others. If it is business that you are planning to conduct out here, rest assured that you will get the highest order of customized services to cater to your specific business needs.

Dining at the Ritz Carlton is a special experience. It hosts one of the finest restaurants in the city, The Cafe de Paris. It is renowned chef (shall we also sy artist?) Paul Little's canvas and he fills it with contemporary French and local Quebecois flavors. In the summers you can sample his cuisine while dining out in the famous garden, Le Jardin du Ritz. It is an inimitable outdoor dining experience that you just can't afford to miss.

Wondering whether to host a special occasion out here? You couldn't have chosen a better location. For large receptions and gatherings, you can choose between two grand ballrooms, one of which, the unique Oval ballroom, has seen some of the most historical occasions in the history of this city.

There are also ten function rooms, designed to serve a gathering of people ranging from 10 to 350. Any of these rooms can also host a cocktail of up to 600 people.

And finally, no elaboration of a hotel's offerings can ever be complete without a mention of its bar. The elegant and exhaustively stocked Ritz Bar is open from 3 pm to 11 pm everyday, and dinner is served between 6 pm and 10 pm. Soak in the casual and friendly ambience out here while you sip your drink and reflect upon the many wonders of this unique hotel.
