Lychees - those flavorful little fruits so appropriate for jazzing up any meal. Lychees are native to China, and are often viewed as being exotic treats for the chic.
The Resto Lychee Cuisine, a 'bring your own wine' located at 187 Mount Royal Est is a casual fine dining experience that does not quite embody the essence of the unconventional lychee berry.
It must first be said that the atmosphere is quite inviting, with the efficient and polite service being something worthy of note.
Although the restaurant is a nice place to cool off in the heat of the summer, with their abundance of ice cold water, the price of the food compared to the quality is rather deceiving. Although the dishes was good, they failed to be outstanding, for which, at $25.00 a plate, seems a bit unreasonable. There was little that differentiated the pricey menu from other - less expensive - Asian Cuisine.
I do have to admit, though, that despite my complaints with regard to the meal price vs. meal quality, I would go back. Our waiter was fast and friendly, always making sure our glasses were full and our needs were met. The atmosphere allowed for good conversation, and lots of laughter. This restaurant would likely be a great place to go when it is your birthday, and your friends are footing the bill!
