MONTREAL - Before we begin, some important things to know about this review! I actually tested this product myself by getting a nose piercing, so the commentary below comes from firsthand experience.The factors that I really considered when writing this review were the quality of the service and the cleanliness/sterility of the equipment and location. On both counts Nezem scores high. This beautiful St. Denis location is a speciality piercing (and laser tattoo removal) boutique. The style of the store is slightly different from your typical piercing and tattoo store in that it’s got a more upscale and relaxed feel to it while maintaining standard piercing prices.
Assaf, the owner of Nezem, is a brave man. For starters I have an extremely low pain threshold, and I mean really low. It actually hurts for me to pluck my eyebrows and so anyone piercing me is guaranteed to have a hard time (somehow though I’ve made it through a number of piercings and tattoos!) Fortunately Assaf’s chatty and friendly attitude put me at ease from the start. We talked about a range of topics and before I knew it I was lying down in the piercing room staring at a needle about to go into my nose.
The side room where the piercings take place was spotless, and the equipment used and sterlization processes were top notch. Assaf even explained to me in detail why the jewelery I bought was problematic and I felt like I knew exactly what was happening to my nose, which put me at ease!
In the second attempt to pierce my nose (the first was a false start), after a little kick, squeal, squirm and some momentary pain, the job was done!
Effortlessly creating a comfortable environment for what is an inherently stressful process is Assaf’s forte. So if you’ve been considering getting a piercing or looking for a small appearance change, Nezem is definitely a place I can recommend for both the fearful and the fearless.
