Chiringa, Spa Canino, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico

PLAYA DEL CARMEN - If you watched the film, recently released on Tripulu, you understand that adopted street dogs, or Malix, are an important part of life here in Playa. The lucky adoptees get showered with love, toys, and attention. They greet us at the airport, accompany us to restaurants, and generally make our lives more interesting because we’re always meeting new people through our dogs. Chiringa, a new Dog Spa in my neighborhood, is taking this tradition to a whole new level.

Chiringa is named for the owner, Faride's, Chihuahua, and her concept is to bring quality dog care here to Playa. They sell professional quality treatments for pests and parisites, and they also offer vet quality foods and supplements. This is the kind of place you go if you’ve ever truly loved a dog, and you'll do what it requires to ensure that he or she is healthy and happy.

Chiringa also offers very well priced grooming, bathing, and dog sitting in the shop. When my dogs go for a bath they come home smelling and looking great, always with a cute bandana tied around their necks.

The team at Chiringa is also doing very important work regarding the health and safety of street dogs here in Playa. The shop accepts puppies born on the street, and they ensure that the dogs are clean, healthy, and sterilized in order to prohibit more unwanted puppies from being born. The hope is that these healthy puppies will be adopted and trained by good families, slowly reducing the number of adult dogs suffering on the streets.

You can support Chiringa by stopping in and making a purchase or using their services. They also sell toys, collars, and leashes, so if you’re visiting from out of town you can buy your dog a gift and make a difference.

Visitors from the U.S. and Canada should also consider adopting a puppy here. The puppies are small enough to travel as a carry-on item, so it's easy to take one back home. The shop will provide fast services for vaccination and travel papers, and in just a couple hours you can be ready to take your new dog home from Mexico. This adoption process is a very important part of how tourists and part-time residents can help us care for the dogs here in Playa.
