I felt relaxed and welcome

I visited in February 2009 (without staying) and immediately felt relaxed and welcome. The relaxing sound of a waterfall greets you as you walk up the steps towards reception as well as beautiful bougainvillea blooms after which the resort is named.

The Bougainvillea Beach Resort caters for a variety of travellers, largely young couples, couples with children and snow birds. The resort divides its rooms into standard and deluxe and also has two luxury suites. I preferred the standard rooms which have recently been refurbished but also liked the deluxe suites as they all have great views of the sea and are very spacious. The larger deluxe rooms include dining room tables which is a bonus if you want to make your own meals. The resort’s commissary service allows you to order groceries that are packed away prior to your arrival!

The beach has powdery white sand and is divided into two areas, one area is more chilled out and the other is home to the water sports desk! The gardens are pretty and well looked after and there’s a barbeque pit available for guests to use which is a great idea, especially if you’ve been on a successful deep sea fishing trip! There’s a cocktail party every Monday from 6-7 pm where guests can mingle and get to know one another as well as a weekly performance by a local band. A lovely, down to earth resort with friendly staff who want you to have the best holiday possible.
