Harbour Lights

St. Michael | $$ | Website

Harbour Lights is an open air nightclub that’s been around since 1987 and is run by Barbadians Brian and Raymond Gill. It’s a place where tourists and locals can dance the night away under the stars. On Monday and Wednesday nights, Harbour Lights is home to the Beach Extravaganza Dinner Show. At the show, patrons can have a meal, watch stilt walkers, fire eaters and limbo dancers and then kick off their shoes so that they can dance in the sand to the sound of live calypso.

The big party nights are on Wednesdays and Fridays with a DJ and all you can drink from 9.30pm until late; you simply pay a cover charge. During the summer months in the run up to Kadooment Day, the finale of Barbados’ Crop Over Festival, there are Beach Parties on Sunday nights. The Beach Parties start in the late afternoon, the cover charge is minimal and there’s a 2 for 1 happy hour and a $1 drinks hour so always good to get there early.

Dancing on the beach + all you can drink = good times

Every time friends come to Barbados to visit, Harbour Lights is a must….even if I feel some nights that at 29 I’m getting to old for it! It’s a basic beach bar that offers a sweet deal….pay $25 USD (guys) / $20 USD (ladies) and it’s all you can drink! In addition to this great deal the real draw is that for us city guys, dancing on the beach under the stars by the ocean is priceless.

The big nights here are Wednesdays, Fridays and I’ve heard Sunday nights can be big. Barbados is a small island so on the off nights, Harbour Lights will generally be closed. Take advantage at the end of the night and order a cheeseburger at the back of the bar….one of the best cheeseburgers you can get. Eating a greasy burger helps absorb the copious amounts of alcohol you’ve consumed…..could be a life saver 

I think the ideal age group for Harbour Lights is 18 to 25ish. If you’re up for some dancing on the beach and want to really take it easy, try Harbour Lights.

Oh Harbour Lights

What a place. First off all you can drink for $25usd for men and $20usd for women. How sweet is that! Plus the all you can drink is not alcohol that will make you go blind if you drink too much, the booze is of half decent quality. If you want premium stuff they have it as well at an extra cost.

As for the bar; it is an open air concept, with an area full of sand so you have the feeling of being on the beach with out the worry of how far you need to go in order to get a drink. If it rains a little it just enhances the mood, i think the best feeling is dancing in the rain (remind you it is warm rain, not cold rain like in Canada) sand between your toes, good people and good fun.

If you are like me and tend to get hungry when you drink, they have a on site grill with the best cheese burgers on the island. mmmmm mmmm mmmmm!

Harbour Lights is a MUST!

If you are traveling to Barbados, you have to stop by this place at least once. By best memories of Barbados is here. First off its a great value for your money, you can drink the night away for $20. You can kick off your flip flops to the side and dance on the beach! One night we even danced in the rain with not a care in the world, which is what you want on vacation. There is also a stage where interesting things can happen….! LOL

Fond Memories

I haven’t been for 5 years but i can still remember the feeling of the sand between my toes as we tore up the dance floor at Harbour Lights. Great value – but remember to tip the bartender well early on in the night or he might forget to serve you next time you need a refill.

One fee, all you can drink!

Harbour Lights is a Bajan ‘institution’, it’s been around for years and it’s still going strong. It tends to attract a younger crowd and it certainly was my nightclub of choice when I was a young twenty-something! Harbour Lights winning formula is pretty simple, you pay an entry fee which entitles you to drink as much as you want. I tend to stick to beer as I often think the drinks aren’t as strong as they could be but on the whole, it’s great value for money. Even if you’re not interested in dancing, there’s nothing quite like sitting on the wooden benches with your feet in the sand engaging in a bit of people watching!

If you’re in Barbados for Crop Over then I’d recommend going to a Beach Party, it’s a fun way to spend your Sunday afternoon as Bajans know how to have a good time! If you’re around for Kadooment Day and want to take part then it’s worthwhile getting in touch with Harbour Lights. Harbour Lights team up with ‘Blue Box Cart’ to create beautiful costumes that you wear in an all day street party – it’s one of the most memorable days that you’ll ever have!

Great for couples, with a jumping nightclub …Not to missed”

My partner and I attended the Beach Extravaganza dinner show in January and we had a fabulous time. It was just what we were looking for, a casual atmosphere with good food and free flowing drinks. At the start there was a live local band and initially we thought that was going to be the brunt of the entertainment but later in the show we were really blown away by some daring stilt walkers, a fire-eater and the limbo lady. We got picked up from our hotel and had the option to return with the transfer but we stayed on for the after party and loved it!

“Good Value for Money”

On a recent trip to Barbados I decided to have a night out with my family and I have to say I did some shopping around before I made up my mind because I was watching my $$$. Admittedly though my family had a good time, what I really enjoyed that night was the 80’s music from the live band as I got to reminisce with my husband; but they played recent music too. It was really bare foot heaven for my kids as they got to frolic in the sand. The setting was very relaxed, we had dinner, plenty drinks to go around but no wine was included in the free drinks and the entertainment was thrilling especially the stilt walkers.
How do you say a great night out in Barbados…”HARBOUR LIGHTS”

Obviously a must for any island visitor

Absolutely one of the BEST cheeseburgers you can get anywhere. If the “All-you-can-drink” doesn’t bring you into Harbour Lights, then you need to go for the burger.
I found the crowd to be somewhat pretentious until the drinks settled in and the dancing started. I even managed to score a dance lesson from a local.
Music is good and you can’t beat dancing outdoors on the beach. One of my best nights was spent dancing atop a picnic table in the pouring rain!

Harbour Lights - a great night out!

I went to Harbour Lights on my first night in Barbados with a good mate – what a great way to start! Coming from the UK I found that it was great value for money ($25 USD for all you can drink can’t be bad in anyones books!) – you don’t get all you can drink bars over here in the UK so it was a great change and you weren’t worried about being over charged for drinks!

The location was good and being able to dance and drink outside was a real novelty for me, and to watch the sun come up while dancing on near the beach was a great way to stat the holiday!
