Set on the top floor of Little Arches Hotel, this restaurant describes itself as ‘Pure Romance’. The alfresco restaurant is a mixture of Caribbean and Mediterranean décor with terracotta tiles, decorative mosaics and star shaped lanterns. Guests at Little Arches Hotel can enjoy breakfast and lunch at the restaurant and in the evening it’s open to guests and the general public.

The menu changes on a daily basis to take advantage of seasonal produce. On Thursday and Friday night sushi is served in addition to the regular menu. Saturday night is Café Luna’s decadent Lobster and Champagne evening.

Try the sushi on Thurs + Fri nights

Guv and I were driving in our ultra cool mini moke trying to find this place, I was desperate for sushi which Café Luna offers Thursday and Friday nights. Access to good sushi on my new home island was tough to find so I was very pumped when Christine and the ladies suggested we meet up for sushi night.

Café Luna is located at Little Arches hotel….on your drive there you’re going to say “are we lost?” but trust me, it’s there. The restaurant was busy, I could tell this is where guys bring their ladies for a nice dinner. The crowd varied from young guys like me to a family or two with kids….one thing was for sure, everyone was excited for sushi.

Coming from Montreal my expectations are pretty high when it comes to eating out. I’m a sashimi guy and with most sushi places that I travel too in remote countries, the pieces are small, not always fresh, and disgustingly expensive. When my plate came out I was very surprised to see large fresh pieces of sushi / sashimi…..wow, I was impressed.

I haven’t tried Zen which is suppose to be the sushi place in Barbados but Café Luna was good, actually, it was great for a small island of 275,000 people. The service was good, meals came out pretty quickly, lighting was good, lots of fresh air, a little on the pricey side but hey….sushi is never cheap right?

A Charming Getaway

It wouldn’t surprise me to see someone at a nearby table get down on one knee and propose (no need to get scared fellas or ladies as a matter of fact). This small restaurant on the roof of the Little Arches boutique hotel is the ideal romantic setting. Quaint table lanterns and seating under the stars – you are satisfied even before you get the food. The menu is appealing to all – many people go for their Thurs and Fri night sushi which is good but still not on the level of Zen. However, the crazy rolls are quite fun and definitely a ‘must try’

Under the Moon

Cafe Luna has a very romantic setting, an peacfull place to take a loved one. Yet if you are traveling solo it is a great place just to relax and feel at ease.

What i most enjoyed about the place was the food a very tasty and yet intriguing blend of Asian and North American. They had very bold flavors and very unique combinations, tastes that will linger in you mind for a couple of days.

Overall this place is off the path, steps form the beach, friendly, relaxing, and you can have a great meal.

Fresh and New

I tried this restaurant a long time ago but what stands out in my memory was the view as my friend and I sat having dinner. We felt as though we were in little Italy having the most romantic meal of our lives. Just wow!!!

Very relaxed and incredibly romantic.

Café Luna is an absolute gem of a restaurant. I visited in February 2009 after several recommendations and was not disappointed. The ambience is wonderful, very relaxed and incredibly romantic. There are fabulous star shaped lanterns dotted around the perimeter of the restaurant that cast a wonderful soft glow across the alfresco dining area. The tables all have utilitarian hurricane lamps instead of candles and are covered with simple crisp white table clothes.

The extensive menu has lots to choose from and it was quite difficult to decide what to eat! I would highly recommend the smoked dolphin and marlin to start, followed by the pan seared lamb. Try to get a balcony table; they have the best views of the sea. If you’re able to, make a reservation when there’s a full moon so you can enjoy your meal whilst bathing in the moon’s lunar rays……bliss!
