Tried and True
Champers has been on the Barbadian dining scene for years and has always been popular. In my opinion, the change in location a few years ago was definitely for the better as the new setting is Incredible! The view right over the waters of the South Coast only enhance the experience at Champers. The fish dishes seem to be their specialty and I have never had a complaint. However, due to their popularity, I find the recent level of service a little inconsistent – some nights its impeccable and other nights not so great. The staff are always pleasant and willing to recommend a dish. The menu is quite varied and not badly priced in comparison to other fine dining restaurants.

Popular lunch spot with the Barbadian business community
Champers was once located in Hastings but moved to its current home at Skeetes Hill a few years ago. It’s always been an immensely popular lunch spot with the Barbadian business community. I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy several lovely lunches and dinners at Champers. When I visited in late 2008, I went for lunch and had the delicious fish pie with garden salad. The service is always excellent and the food is consistently good.
The restaurant is simply decorated with superb sea views. I think that the balcony tables on the lower floor are the nicest. I’d also recommend perusing the art gallery which is lively and vibrant and packed full of the work of various West Indian artists.
