Sitar
Holetown | $$$
Sitar, which opened in winter 1998, aims to give it’s customers a taste of East Indian Cuisine in the West Indies. The restaurant is at the end of busy 2nd Street in Holetown and is one of the few authentic Indian restaurants on the island. The dishes on Sitar’s menu range from the mild to the extremely hot so it’s diverse enough to keep everyone happy. Sitar’s cuisine is largely North Indian, its 2 chefs are from Punjab and Delhi in North India, but there are also South Indian dishes on the menu. The restaurant is large enough to be spacious and small enough to be intimate. For those who wish to have a bit more privacy, there’s a private dining room which seats up to 12 people comfortably as well as a private lounge at the back of the restaurant.

Very good Indian food
Guv, who’s one of my best buddies, kept telling me that we need to try this Indian restaurant. He had been there a few times already and loved it. So I joined him and loved Sitar! We parked a few streets over because cars can’t park on 1st street….walked over to Sitar which is located right in the heart of Holetowns nightlife district (small zone). The owner is often there and greeted us, very friendly man. Guv and I shared a few entrees and took some butter chicken to go. I liked the intimate atmosphere; I thought it could serve as a great restaurant for couples or small groups. If you’re looking for good Indian food on Barbados I would definitely recommend Sitar.

Piece of India in Barbados
If your into curries and the wonderful dynamic tastes of India then this is a great place. Up in Holetown Sitar has some great food. The ambiance is okay, the decor is moderate, you can see that they need a minor face lift. As for the food, it is spot on with chefs directly from India you can taste the passion in the food. I recommend the lamb racks and some nan with a curry dish. MMMM MMMM MMMMM.
They also have a shesha lounge in the back with traditional Indian instruments to rock out on. a relaxing place for after your meal.

mmmmmmm.....I think we went back there at least 2,3 times eh
The best Indian restaurant in Barbados.
The Sitar is one of the most popular and best known musical instruments from India; likewise, Sitar restaurant is the most popular and in my opinion the best Indian restaurant in Barbados. When I want an authentic curry, I go to Sitar. It reminds me of a curry house on the world famous Brick Lane in London. It doesn’t have a view of the sea since it’s on a street corner but the atmosphere is friendly and most importantly, the food is delicious. Two of my favourite dishes are the tandoori lamb which falls of the bone when it emerges from the oven that was specially imported and the butter chicken, sweet, fragrant and absolutely delicious. I’ve had lots of great nights at Sitar, it’s all about sitting round a table having fun and sharing different dishes – get a group of friends together and go, you won’t be disappointed.
