The Mews

Holetown | $$$$

The Mews is a popular restaurant and bar on the infamous 2nd Street in Holetown. It’s equally well known for its delicious food as it is for being a great place to have a few drinks. The proprietor, Chris Hoad works tirelessly to ensure that things run smoothly and has been known to work into the wee hours to make sure that patrons never have to wait too long for a drink.

The intimate bar has been a favourite late night watering hole for many years serving a wide variety of beers, wines and cocktails. Every Friday night a live band performs after the dinner service ends, playing popular tunes so that people get into the party spirit. On a busy night, people spill out of the bar on to the street outside of the Mews which gives the place a real street party atmosphere.

It’s the perfect spot for meeting up with friends after dinner

The Mews has always been a favourite of mine. The drinks are good, fairly priced and on Friday night there’s always a lively atmosphere. The party scene in Barbados is totally different to that of a city. There aren’t that many places to go where you’ll find a mature crowd but generally speaking, you won’t find any teenagers here.

Don’t come to The Mews if you want to have a wild night out on the tiles. It’s the perfect spot for meeting up with friends after dinner to have a couple of cocktails and a good chin wag before heading somewhere else. It’s also a great place to have dinner, the food is always fabulous and not quite as expensive as some of the other fine dining restaurants on the West Coast. The bathrooms could do with a lick of paint but don’t let that deter you. The best thing about The Mews is that if it’s a busy night and people are having fun, the bar closes when people are tired of drinking……martini anyone?!
