Cool Runnings Catamaran Sailing Cruises is a family business owned and run by Robert Povey and his wife Annika. The cruises have been described as ‘the Rolls Royce of catamaran excursions’ and the company prides itself on providing a superb day of sailing in an uncrowded atmosphere.
Cool Runnings offer day and sunset cruises and for those who wish to celebrate special occasions, private cruises. The day cruises take guests for a sail along the coast of Barbados to a clear secluded bay where you can swim with turtles, snorkel over a shallow shipwreck and feed schools of tropical fish, swim to shore for a stroll on the beach or simply lounge on the deck and enjoy a few drinks. Snorkelling gear is provided to all guests and complimentary drinks are served throughout the cruise as well a buffet lunch and dessert which are served on board. The sunset cruise is very similar to the day cruise in terms of what is offered to guests except that you get to marvel at the wonderful sunset and sail home by starlight.

Booze Cruise
On your vacation to Barbados, Cool Runnings is the a great afternoon on a huge catamaran. For $75 (if i’m not mistaken), you will get picked up at your hotel, cruise the ocean on the catamaran for 4 hours, fed a delicious lunch, and served all the alcohol you can consume! Oh and let’s not forget the snorkeling. They bring you to 2 different locations, where you can snorkel and swim with the sea turtles. The staff on the boat know how to get the party started and make sure you are enjoying your day out in the sun!

I absolutely love going for a day out on Cool Runnings! I’ve been on a few of the catamarans that operate in Barbados and in my opinion, they’re the best! The catamaran is immaculate and spacious with a shaded area for those who don’t want to be in the direct sunlight all day long. Best of all are the friendly staff who are great fun and wonderful hosts.
The cruise takes you along the west coast of Barbados where you can view the island from a totally different perspective. After about half an hour of sailing the catamaran makes its first of three stops where you don a mask and snorkel and go to feed the sea turtles. This is always my favourite stop as the sea turtles are absolutely incredible creatures – despite their cumbersome appearance they are extremely fast swimmers! The next stop takes you to Folkestone Marine Park where you can snorkel with masses of tropical fish and feed them.
Lunch is generally served when the catamaran makes its third and final stop. The traditional bajan buffet is always delicious and the drinks flow freely. One word of advice….the rum punch is a lot stronger than it tastes!!!
