Ambrosia

The island of Maui is world renowned for its beautiful beaches, great restaurants, and a seemingly unlimited supply of outdoor activities. One thing it is not known for, however, is its nightlife. The climate of the island seems to led itself to daytime fun in the sun so, as you would expect, its hard to find much to do once the sun goes down. Ambrosia, located in Kalama Square, is one of the exceptions. Ambrosia provides an intimate, laid back, ultra-lounge atmosphere that is a real departure from the usual tiki clad, tropical drink dispensaries that seem to be synonymous with the valley isle. The bar is small seating less than ten with table seating for around 15 more. The decor is classic lounge with abstract, music themed works of art dotting the walls and shelves. The lights are always low and the whole place bathed in a magenta glow. If you are looking for a drink with an umbrella than you may need to look elsewhere but those with a little more refined pallet will appreciate their selection of fine spirits, wines, and micro-brewed beers. The bartenders are friendly and very professional as are the DJs who spin dance, house, and old school nearly every night of the week. Happy hour runs from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in addition to the drink specials that change day to day. Hours are from 5:00pm till 2:00am, but if you decide to come on the weekends get there early as it fills up fast. The Ambrosia website lists all the specials and events and even has a mailing list to keep you abreast of all the nocturnal goings on. So to those of you looking for a chill atmosphere and a martini to match, Ambrosia in Kihei is the place to be when the sun goes down.
