Rated by enRoute Magazine (Air Canada) as “best sandwiches in Montreal” I must agree.

It may not be fancy, although it has character. Established in 1989, the Titanic Lower Deck restaurant theme begins as you walk down the stone wall basement stairway entering through a door with a porthole window. The weathered hardwood floors and brick walls make a statement, setting the mood as jazz music accompanies this very friendly ambiance. The menu selection would please any health conscious individual and those who seek out Mediterranean specialties. All menu choices are with a generous amount of fresh herbs as their ingredients. I like their antipasto misto combo, sandwich accompanied with a mixture of roasted and grilled vegetables. The sandwich repertoire is great and always changing; pink salmon on crusty bread; smoked Mackerel; roast pork chutney… The presentation has a creative touch. I must say they have a limited selection of deserts, but the almond cake topped with cream cheese icing, worth every bite. If you are a coffee lover like me, there is nothing better than a cappuccino to complete a meal.

The restaurant is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays therefore; arriving between 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. you will encounter your local businesses lunch hour rush. Anytime later you can enjoy a quiet and relaxed time. Its location is southwest of Old Montreal. Two blocks down you can benefit by visiting the various art exhibition shops on the well known “rue St-Paul”. Perhaps a stop at Montreal’s nearby Museum of Archaeology and History at “Pointe-à-Caillière”. Besides the food being delicious, the area of its location can be interesting to explore.
