High Energy, Low Cost

In a city where hockey is a religion, other sports inevitably get shuffled to the side. The Montreal Impact soccer team generates little buzz and, after attending a match last fall, I can tell you just how much of a shame this is.
Going in, I had low expectations: I knew nothing about the team and had zero interest in soccer. Fortunately, I was in for a pleasant surprise. Turns out it was the championship game (the third match in a best 2 out of 3 series) and our seats were fantastic, at an infinitesimal fraction of the cost of comparable seats at a Habs game. We all know soccer fans are high energy, but I was NOT prepared at all for how much fun I had at this game. By the end of the match I was jumping up and down and cheering and singing just as loud as those with their faces painted. The crowd has a hypnotic way of drawing you in with a chant that is five times catchier than the Canadiens “Ole!” one. The excitement is undeniably contagious.
Overall, this was an incredibly cheap and extremely fun way to spend an afternoon, and my whole party agreed that we will definitely be attending more matches this upcoming season.
Oh! And we won!!
