My ReviewsKiteboarding in ParadiseThe first time I saw Kiteboarding was the first time I set foot in Playa del Carmen two years ago, and I was determined to be out on the water. It was only about a 2 months ago when I really had the time to take a couple of courses, and Freestyle Playa came highly recommended by a friend of mine. The school is set up on one of Riviera Maya’s most serene beaches, Xpu Ha (about 20 min drive south from Playa), and not only is the beach incredible and quite secluded, but the instructors are fantastic. They make sure to take all the safety precautions and go at the pace and comfort level of the student. UniquenessChallengeExcitementValueService

Divine DivinoFirst comment about this restaurant…LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. You couldn’t be wining and dining in a more prime location for Playa’s hip and trendy nightlife. Usually, the corner of 12th and 5th avenue is the meeting point for friends just before they head out to dine or party. This is a great restaurant for people watching, whether it be the Playa’s “anything goes” fashion show of eccentrically dressed women and men, or for strolling mariachis looking to play a song for diners on the corner. In addition to the location, the food is definitely worth commenting on…from delicious soups and salads, to mouth watering beef carpaccio and fresh fish, your taste buds definitely won’t be comprised from from succulent dining! The service is pretty good except when they’re busting at the seams with clients during New Year’s or Semana Santa (holy week – which happens to be just as busy as New Year’s) TasteCreativityAtmosphereValueService

CommentsBesides Mosquito Blue (across the street), I don't think you could get better location! Moishes - A succulent & mouth watering experience!I was never a meat eater until I made my first visit to Moishes….the restaurant that defined Filet Mignon for me. Located a little further north of St. Laurent’s nightlife, Moishes’ atmosphere would not be defined as trendy but more along the lines of classy and sophisticated The main crowd here consists of an overall “well to do” clientele where you’ll find business associates wining and dining their “new clients”, families with the extended relatives…and perhaps couples if they’re looking for a quaint yet pricy meal out on town. I’m currently on a 10 day detox, so writing this review is absolutely killing me!!!!!! TasteCreativityAtmosphereValueService

CommentsThe Barmacie of SupremacyIf you’re looking to get away from the regular St. Laurent crowd, who’s now main market consists of under age girls partying it up (maybe fun for you guys but not for women my age looking for sophisticated men), then Baldwin Barmacie is the place to go if you’re scoping the trendy yuppy crowd. The beauty about this place is that you don’t have to wait until the weekend to enjoy a bumping crowd. This place is PACKED on both wednesday and thursday nights for 5 @ 7 and hours way beyond! Prices are fairly reasonable and the drinks are exceptionally tasty. Try out the Lichee Martini and Mojitos! Ohhh and the bathrooms are quite funky. SexinessAtmosphereExcitementValueService

Commentslol, I love the title :) My Favorite Bar in Montreal! There’s something about Wunderbar that stands out from the rest of Montreal’s basic nightlife. Maybe because it’s not situated on the main Montreal drag, St. Laurent, (which now caters to mostly rowdy 18 – 25 yr olds) maybe because it caters to both trendy tourists and locals, or perhaps because it’s got the kinky mirrors on the ceilings, Whatever -Whenever the case, Wunderbar concocts smashing lichee martinis, and has excellent tunes pumping throughout the night. W – Wunderbar – Wednesday. Follow the “W” theme and be aware that it’s extremely difficult, next to impossible to get into the bar on a Wednesday night, unless you have some “ins” with the security at the door (hey that’s your business), or if you make a reservation well in advance. Just call the front desk of the hotel and mention you want to put your name on the guest list for the W on wednesday night. Obviously, if you’re a guest at the hotel, you’re automatically granted immediate access to the bar without a reservation. In addition to the weekend, Thursday night’s 5 @ 7 is also bumping as it caters to the Montreal yuppy crowd and carries out a respectable, trendy party throughout the night. Wunderbar is a definite must see & do!!! SexinessAtmosphereExcitementValueService

CommentsYou're my favorite... Succulent Oysters, Excellent Wine Selection & Mouth Watering Coconut Shrimps!Unfortunately, I don’t get to visit and devour Maestro SVP’s incredible seafood selection as often as I like to. Mainly because I no longer live in Montreal but that’s another story in itself. TasteCreativityAtmosphereValueService

CommentsCLUB OOOOOOOOOOOOPERA!!!! (soprano voice)When I hear the words Club Opera in the same sentence an immediate depiction of a true “typical” night club comes to mind. It’s basically a venue big enough to host a respectable size concert, infested with the same concert like crowd that definitely translates into a fire hazard, an ear drumming base so strong, you’re not sure whether the pounding of your chest is from the industrial size speakers you’re dancing next to or the vodka red bulls you’ve been packing down, solely to keep up with the vibrant young ones. I’ve been to Club Opera three times now and … each time there was something new. Three times a charm definitely is the key motto for my third outing to Club Opera. I went on a Saturday night with a couple of friends, actually dreading the night out, expecting to be partying with peeps half my age, expecting to get continuously bumped into with drinks spilling all over my overly priced American Apparel white Tshirt and I definitely anticipated the frequent yawns early in the night. However, at the entrance, while waiting in line to get frisked by the security guard (the most action I’ve received in months), a young cute American guy, accompanied with a group of guys, also waiting to frisked.. decided to whip out a very unique pick up line “ what kind of Pajamas do you where at night?” That was a definitely a first! We finally made it into the actual club, still quite early in the night (for Montreal standards)11:30 PM and the club was barely filled to capacity. As we meandered through the various bars on the ground level, we were approached by Opera’s security and were told that we were invited to party with the Los Angeles KINGS. Turns out “pick up line boy” was an LA King! We ended up dancing and drinking the night away in a private alcohol infested VIP booth with a hoard of toothless hockey players. CommentsJust an FYI The first time I attended Club Opera, I have no recollection of the experience since I was under the influence of alcohol but the second time was pretty eventful as I showed up in my bridesmaid’s dress after my cousin’s wedding, and almost B*tch slapped a young girl for stepping on my off-white bridesmaid gown. Ok so maybe not the most appropriate place to show up wearing a long gown but we still caught the attention of some random party goers. |
