Brutopia

Montreal | $ | Website

Brutopia is the premiere brewpub in downtown Montreal. Since we opened in 1997, the friendly staff has been serving fresh, full-flavored beers brewed on the premises. Imported and micro-brewed draft beers are also available.

Brutopia consists of 3 bars on 3 floors. Opening hours are 3pm -3am every day, except Friday when we open at noon. We have three terraces, so from early spring to late fall you can enjoy the bubbly sweetness under the starry skies. There is a small comfy terrace in front of the main bar, a larger ground floor terrace in front of the Bistro and a cool shaded terrace out back.

Our globally-inspired kitchen serves a wide selection of tapas, great finger food and sandwiches. We are located at 1219 Crescent St., between Ste. Catherine St. and Rene Levesque Blvd. You can always call us at (514) 393-9277

Happy hour is from opening until 8pm every day except Monday when happy hour is all day and night. Happy hour at Brutopia offers special pricing on house beers and mixed drinks. [Description by Brutopia]

Couldn't get enough of their raspberry flavored beer

I was introduced to Brutopia years ago by Jessie who kept telling me they had very good beer. Over the years I’ve dropped by, recently because of a rugby fundraiser and love it every time. They have a cool raspberry flavored beer and great selection of other home brews.

There’s usually a live band playing on the main floor. Go upstairs, left side, if you want to have a more intimate conversation….otherwise you’re yelling with all the live music going on. It’s a very casual atmosphere, excellent place to begin your night. You can always walk up Crescent Street and hit the clubs if that’s your thing but firstly, load up on quality beer while you’re still sober enough to appreciate the taste!

Beer Brewed on Spot

A great place to hang out and listen to a live band. One of the better pubs in Montreal, this place has about 5-6 home brews which are really good. I have been here a few times and find myself upstairs playing table curling which always get a crowd going.

Basement Bonanza!

This is a terrific bar for those who enjoy a great tasting beer and live music. The three floors offer a little something for all walks of life. The main level is where all the action is and prime location to take in a band. The upstairs offers a quieter environment for those who wish to converse without having to yell at each other and can still hear the live band in the background (I’d be willing to bet that a common topic for conversation is the interesting artwork that changes from week to week in the upstairs lounge area). My favorite spot in this bar however, is by far the basement. I’m not sure if it is the cool music or the feeling of being in my parents basement with a sweet tasting micro-brewed beer…but I always find myself enjoying an evening laying on the couches in this more tranquil setting!
