Located in the trendy Plateau area, Edgar Hypertaverne is a popular place to grab a bite to eat during the day but it’s during the evenings when this place really gets happening. The crowd is mainly French Canadians (yes, that means French girls are there) and the space is long and narrow. Get there early and secure a comfortable seat in the middle and make your way to the dance floor in the back as the night moves on. Ideal for the trendy, leisure and possibly the budget traveler.

Last night was my first night to the Edgar Hypertaverne, and I have to admit I was pretty impressed. The music was good, if you like a little house and top 40 hip hop and the people were beautiful. The vibe was there and it was not too packed which is a major plus as you know you can actually move around. It was a little too hot which kind of made it a sweaty night but I guess that is better than being cold right!
There is one thing I can say about Montreal and about every Bar on Mount Royal Street is that you have to bring out your french skills. I think my friends and I were the only ones who spoke english! So for all you travellers out there coming to experience a great taverne bar, good music take some french classes first!
