Santos Cafe
Old Montreal | $$ | Website
Part of the rejuvenation of Old Montreal as a legitimate nightlife contender is owed to Santos, the hipper-than-thou café and nightclub at the epicenter of the city's cobblestone-cool old city, St. Paul Street. Recently purchased and repurposed from an old Java U café, which also got rowdy in the evenings, Santos lures the bright and beautiful with a small, innovative menu of drinks (specializing in martinis) and food (try the Cajun fries) and great tunes that start spinning in the evening.
Though splashed in sexy hues of red and white, Santos is small, so it can get quite busy, but that doesn't seem to deter the upscale patrons from letting loose a bit and dancing up a storm wherever they're standing.

Pure Party Review #3
Yes, another review from yours truly. I have a lot to say about Santos. My frist time going there was with a good friend of mine, it was a Thursday night and at the time we did not know any of the people working there. It ended up being one of the best night I have had at a lounge bar in a very long time. The music was amazing, the people were amazing and the staff was great.
The bar closed at 3am but we were there way past 4:30am having drinks with the staff. This is the kind of place where everyone knows your name. Its a Cheers type bar, but very trendy, everyone loves to see you and makes you feel at home.
I would recommend this to everyone visiting Montreal, and if you are living here, please go check it out, during the week is a pretty chill crowd and people are very open!

Nice club to lounge around
I’ve been here a few times, I like it because it’s one of the few lounge’s in Montreal that has great music combined with nice decor. Great place if you want to start off the night with a few drinks, or if you’re on a date. The location is alright, it’s in Old Montreal which is cool, but if you want to go somewhere else to party you have to take a taxi, you can’t walk to the next good club.

Thanks for the scoop!
Great alternative to a typical club
I’ve been going to Santos since it opened and think it’s a great alternative to the typical club or lounge with good food, music and drinks rolled in one. If you’re visiting from out of town, this is a great spot to meet and mingle with the locals, as tourists tend to flock north towards the club scene on Crescent Street and St. Laurent. Just don’t expect to bar hop if you don’t like it – there’s not too much else around. My only complaint here is that it can get quite crowded and tough to get in, if you don’t arrive early.
