Maestro S.V.P.

Montreal | $$$$ | Website

Offering a variety of seafood dishes, Maestro S.V.P. offers a respectable selection of fresh oysters. This restaurant is located close to the nightlife on St. Laurent Street and may serve as an excellent place to begin an evening with a small group. The fresh Oysters are served chilled on a bed of ice or be adventurous and try the baked oysters…the Rockefeller for example includes swiss cheese, pesto and spinach. A popular dish for couples is the Maestro Platter which includes a little of everything if you’re not sure what to order (bruschetta / clams / king crab / steamed mussels / coconut shrimp / Maestro calamari / ½ lobster / chicken and shrimp satays). If seafood is your thing give this place a chance.

Great coconut shrimp....fresh oysters too

My love for Maestro S.V.P. began one Grand Prix weekend when I walked by and noticed the fresh oyster bar, in particular this gentleman that was trying an oyster shot (yes, a shot….vodka, Tabasco, salt and a fresh oyster). I managed to convince the ladies to try some (I heard oysters were good for the mojo, I needed every bit of help that day) and they loved them.

I’ve been there many times since, always ordering the coconut shrimp and fresh oysters. It’s one of the few sea food restaurants in Montreal that I know of. They’re consistent with their service and the food seems fresh. With a few drinks you won’t be walking out of there without a bill in the $150 – $220 Canadian range (for 2 people) so be aware of this if you plan to take out a special lady…..fresh seafood isn’t cheap.

Take advantage of the location and stroll down St. Laurent where you can easily join your friends for a night out of dancing. Just make sure to pack some breath mints, clubbing with fish breath isn’t cool.

Succulent Oysters, Excellent Wine Selection & Mouth Watering Coconut Shrimps!

Unfortunately, I don’t get to visit and devour Maestro SVP’s incredible seafood selection as often as I like to. Mainly because I no longer live in Montreal but that’s another story in itself.
I’ve been to Maestro at least 4 or 5 times, and I’ve become a repeat customer solely for the delicious coconut shrimp and the vast selection of Oysters, freshly imported from various internationally oyster renowned destinations! The seafood menu is quite vast and the prices…menhhhh a little on the expensive side but you’re also paying for location as you’re eating in the heart of the Main – St. Laurent Street.
The summer ambiance is spectacular as you’re eating on their terrace, which is pretty much located on the sidewalk of St. Laurent. So not only are you indulging excellent seafood but you also get to do some yummy people watching…either way it’s a mouth watering experience!!

Great food and good times, happy hour specials too!

This place is really great!
They’ve got an amazing selection of oysters to choose from, even oysters from Japan! I started off with a dozen fresh oysters and a bottle of chablis, mmmmmm! Next, I had the all you can eat mussels and it was delicious. I had three choices of mussels and they were all really tasty: white wine, Thai curry, and tomato sauce. A+
The Service we received was on point. We were lucky enough to be served by the owner of the restaurant and she was very interactive and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with her passion for oysters. There are soooo many neat things about this place. The menus even explain history and facts about oysters I never knew.
This place is a must for any oyster enthusiast or person who wants to be impressed.
They’ve got specials for happy hour too!
