Could just be the best tartares in Montreal..
My brother introduced Marche 27 to me about 2 summers ago. every time we go out to eat we’ll usually try a restaurants tartare. I’ve tried god knows how many tartares dishes in many countries and to be honest, Marche 27 is one of the of the very few tartare restaurants that I remember being very good.
It’s a very simple restaurant, more of a little cafe than your typical sit down and spend a few hours type of restaurant. During the summer they’ll set up 2,3 tables on Prince Arthur (it’s always nice to be outside) which we all knows gets really busy on weekend nights as several bars are just a block away (Rouge, Gasbar, B-Side etc..)
When I come here I’ll usually try the tuna tartare L’ancienne style. I really love their selection of “styles” which for tartare lover, really changes the taste of a dish. There’s only so many ways you slice up tuna, it’s the sauces that add variety to what could easily be a very bland tasting meal.
The team here does a great job in preparing fresh tartare dishes. I’ve been to some restaurants where the tartares look like a solid jelly jello bowl….you know, the type that giggles when you shake the dish. That’s because these place prepare it too far in advance, it’s not fresh….I like tartares that are cubed, freshly cut, it has to be and Marche 27 does a great job at accomplishing this.
I’ll sometimes get a glass fo red wine and they used to have this killer tuna burger but I’m not sure if they still do. In any case, if you’re a tartare love give Marche 27 a try. It’s a simple place, prices are a tad on the high side but hey….if you want the good stuff sometimes you’ve got to pay for it and I’m ok with this….just wish I could make this at home, might save me a few bucks!

Where is this place?
Is this on Prince Arthur just west of St-Laurent? I’ve walked by a million times, don’t think I’ve ever tried. I’ll be adding it to the list…
