Moishes is a Montreal-famous restaurant that is ideally located on the main (St. Laurent). Often these well-known, number-one rated restaurants can be disappointing due to all the hype – this is not the case here. From the doorman who greets you with a smile to the mandatory complimentary coat check, there is plenty to set Moishes apart from the average restaurant. Moishes is one large dining room, very simple but also classy. The bowl of dill pickles and coleslaw that accompanies the standard breadbasket is a unique treat. The modest sized-menu is not for the budget traveller – the cheapest steak on the menu is the rib-eye at $37.00 served with a Monte Carlo (twice baked) potato - but the steaks are enormous, like the filet mignon, which was almost 3 cm thick. Try to save room for one of their simple, but spectacular desserts. Chocolate lovers shouldn't leave the restaurant without trying the Valrhona Chocolate Molten rush. There may not be a huge variety of menu choices, but if you are looking for an amazing steak and a ‘mom and pop’ feel for a restaurant, go to Moishes. The family that opened the restaurant in 1938 is still operating it today, and they know how to cook a steak. Moishes is an absolute classic.

Moishes - A succulent & mouth watering experience!
I was never a meat eater until I made my first visit to Moishes….the restaurant that defined Filet Mignon for me. Located a little further north of St. Laurent’s nightlife, Moishes’ atmosphere would not be defined as trendy but more along the lines of classy and sophisticated The main crowd here consists of an overall “well to do” clientele where you’ll find business associates wining and dining their “new clients”, families with the extended relatives…and perhaps couples if they’re looking for a quaint yet pricy meal out on town.
My favorite dishes are:
The Terriyaki Chicken with sauteed and friend onions…love the Terriyaki sauce, so ask for extra!
The filet mignon, ask for sauteed mushrooms on the side! To die for!!!!
I’m currently on a 10 day detox, so writing this review is absolutely killing me!!!!!!
