Rib N Reef Restaurant

Montreal | $$$$ | Website

I guess the term 'rib n reef' is a fancy way of saying 'surf n turf', and I'm okay with that if you are. Outstanding steak and seafood, classy and indulgent decor and wine cellar worth bragging about. Great dinner spot to impress a client, to celebrate a raise, to treat yourself because you've earned it. Sometimes I go to Rib N Reef when I want to role play; I take my girl out and we pretend to be people who can can actually afford to eat there.

Try the caesar salad made table side, you won't regret it. I also like when the give you a grown-up bib when you eat lobster, it makes me feel like a real man.

Simple and satisfying

I have to say that this is one restaurant in Montreal that you will always get the same great food and service each time you go. Their pepper sauce sirloin steak is hard to beat… and so is the wine list!!! Their sommelier is very helpful. I still haven’t had the chance to try the terrace but it’s on my list.

Rib N Grief

Oh Rib N Reef…how badly I wanted to like you. Everyone talks about you, loves you, and really wanted us to work out. It wasn’t meant to be I guess….We were 3 couples craving a good steak. We decided to try Rib N Reef, instead of going to our usual steak place- ‘Gibby’s’. We ordered the famous Caesar salad, and really enjoyed the table-side demo, and the salad was very good. Was it worth the $40? Not sure after seeing the lovely waitress pouring the President’s Choice Olive Oil into the bowl…. Oh well….I am sure the steaks will be delish. Well, some were, some were undercooked, and someone (namely myself) had to wait 20 minutes for a new steak because mine was overcooked into an object that resembled the purse I wore that night…a beauty actually..Michael Kors..G-d bless him. When my steak actually arrived, all my friends were done, so I became the one sitting at the table eating while the plates were being cleared. The problem was, if I wasn’t so annoyed with the situation I might have actually enjoyed my steak! Good thing my hubby ordered me the creme brulee..that was delicious…I left with a good taste in my mouth, but definitely a bad impression.
