The Keg Steakhouse & Bar is located on St.Paul Street East, in the heart of the Old Port of Montreal. Nestled among buildings and architecture reminiscent of Old Europe, this particular Keg (a chain restaurant) is known not to disappoint.
Classic hardy soups and entrees are reasonably priced, and I challenge anyone to find better cuts and better tasting steaks anywhere in the City. The health conscious (read: calorie-wise) have several options of seafood and salads, unlike many steak-only style restaurants.
Personal favorites include the french onion soup, the twice-baked Monte Carlo potato, and the 16oz Rib Eye. The dessert menu appears tantalizing, but seldom do I leave room for any- I come here for the steak.
This location also offers a sizable lounge area where those enjoying post-work cocktails can sit/stand and enjoy some starters while casual diners enjoy booth seating in an open U-shape concept and a centrally located bar.
Wait staff are well-educated when it comes to the menu and thus far I have yet to encounter any who do not speak both English and French well enough to answer any questions as well as make recommendations if you have trouble choosing from the vast menu.
I have been to many Keg Steakhouse's, and my experience at this particular outlet always leaves me satisfied. Some may argue there are better steakhouses in Montreal, but I guarantee that for within this price range (24$-30$ for anything from sirloin to strip to prime rib including side) none can claim they consistently turn out a product as tasty as this place. I call this it my ''old faithful''. If ever at a loss for somewhere to eat in and around Montreal, you can trust this restaurant to deliver every time.

5 reasons why you'll like The Keg
When the boys want to gather, we tend to vote to hit The Keg in Old Montreal as a meeting spot. To be more specific, there’s a bar attached to The Keg called Brandy’s (owned by The Keg?). I love this restaurant for many reasons;
5. Very consistent with their meals. Mashed potatoes are amazing, meat is great quality.
4. Keg size….yes, equivalent to a McDonald’s super size. You can Keg size just about anything. Keg size your bloody ceasar, Keg size your steak, love it!
3. Right in Old Montreal. Walk along St. Paul Street and enjoy this part of the city while digesting. Or you can walk up St. Laurent and hit the clubs (20 min walk). There’s a parking lot just around the corner too if you can’t find parking which is a pain in the ass in Old Montreal.
2. AAA quality steaks.
1. The service. I don’t know who’s doing the hiring there but they have a tendency to hire beautiful women who are always smiling. I once returned a bottle of red wine that they recommended and without any hesitation they did it, no problems whatsoever. Oh….did I mention that they hire cute women here?
