Kool Fish
5th Avenue and 40th street | $
Located on 5th Avenue, between 38th and 40th street, Kool Fish is a simple restaurant offering tacos, ceviche and of course beers. There's a flat screen tv which will often display local soccer (or football depending on where you're from) games. Try the air hockey table in back of the restaurant, loser buys lunch?

Cheap seafood place
Last night was my second time trying Kool Fish. I’ve always seen locals eat there (a good sign) and with the restaurant being close to home I thought why not test her out again. I had their large fish ceviche which costs 130 pesos ($10.69 US) which is good value. It came in a large casserole with sliced tomatoes, onions; avocados and lime juice…pretty good.
For the main dish I went with the grilled fish prepared garlic style. There’s roughly ten ways you can have them prepare the white grilled fish if garlic isn’t your thing. While waiting for dinner guests can watch TV on Kool Fishes’s flat screen. Yesterday they played some local music and had the TV on mute.
Kool Fish is a cute little local restaurant. Some days I’ll walk by and it’s busy, other days a ghost town, I’m not sure why. The staff was very friendly and the food tasted good. Let me sum it all up by saying that while Kool Fish won’t win any major culinary awards, it’s a good value restaurant and that’s Mexico is all about :)
