Welcome to St. Barts!Published: on 15/2/10
![]() St. Barts review: I’ve visited St. Barts twice while viewing villas and left both times with great memories. Most people will fly into St. Martin and then either take a ferry or short flight over to St. Barts. I suggest the flight which is pretty cool. When sitting in these tiny planes you feel as if you’re the pilot, maybe it’s because you’re basically sitting right behind him! Once you land you quickly realize that this is a very clean island, perfect for the trendy traveler. Coming from Montreal I felt a little at home here. Speaking French, eating fresh croissants, eating out and enjoying great food is definitely a strong point with these French destinations. Now of course seeing topless women tanning on the beaches was also something to remember, really no big deal for Europeans but in North America it’s refreshing to see. (PS. Starring for more than 2 seconds is rude, 10 seconds make you a creepy guy) There are plenty of nice villas to choose from. I liked the hillside villas overlooking Gustavia (the main harbour) where you’ll sometimes see some mega yachts. St. Barts isn’t a cheap island, a combination of using the Euro and importing all the finer things the trendy / luxury traveler need (Champaign, pates, cheeses etc...) But keep in mind you’re paying a premium for being on a safe, very clean island where you just may end up tanning next to Jay-Z, Lindsay Lohan, Mariah Carey etc..Just make sure you’re not wearing your Borat bathing suit, that’s just not cool here. |
