Yonge and Dundas Square

Toronto | $ | Website

The City of Toronto’s Official Plan sets out the vision for a vibrant, competitive, safe and livable downtown. At the heart of the city, the area surrounding Yonge and Dundas was targeted for significant improvements.

The intersection of Yonge and Dundas is Toronto’s number one visitor destination. The goal was to create a strong, dynamic area, bringing Yonge Street back to its former glory. In 1996, the Yonge Street Regeneration Project was initiated by a partnership between the Yonge Street Business and Residents Association and the City of Toronto. Yonge-Dundas Square is now a unique focal point of the downtown Toronto community. The Square is designated for use as a public open space and as an event venue that can accommodate events of various sizes.

You'll discover a wide range of activities on the Square: community celebrations, theatrical events, concerts, receptions, promotions – events that appeal to residents and tourists alike and provide a showcase for local businesses.

    Toronto's place to be!

Yonge-Dundas square reminds me of New York City. It is covered in city lights and there is always something going on. It is like the Time Square for Canada. Every time that I have visited Toronto this Square is always an exciting place to pass. There is always something going on especially on the weekends. There are world festivals, dance parties among a lot of other various activities that cover up the square. We cannot forget the street performers who make a living on that square day in and day out. It is a place to check out!
